Biden condemns the "deplorable" Russian attack on Poltava (Ukraine) that has left 51 dead and 271 injured

September 4 () –

US President Joe Biden on Tuesday condemned the “deplorable” attack by the Russian Army on the Ukrainian city of Poltava, which left at least 51 dead and 271 injured after the launch of two missiles.

“Earlier today, Russian missiles struck a military training center and hospital in Ukraine, killing more than 50 people and injuring dozens more. I condemn this deplorable attack in the strongest possible terms,” Biden said in a statement shared by the White House.

He also said that this action is a “tragic reminder” of the “continuous and scandalous attempts” by Russian President Vladimir Putin to “break the will of a free people” during two and a half years of war in which the Ukrainian population “has remained unshaken,” and he promised that the United States will continue to support them.

“Make no mistake: Russia will not prevail in this war. The people of Ukraine will prevail. And on this tragic day, and every day, America stands with them,” the US president added.
