MADRID 11 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has asked Israel to stop firing at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) after two Israeli attacks against positions of the international mission in southern Lebanon. leaving at least four ‘blue helmets’ injured.

Asked by a journalist if he is asking Israel to stop shooting at peacekeepers in Lebanon, the American president answered yes. “Absolutely. Totally,” Biden responded to the press this Friday.

For his part, the Secretary of Defense of the United States, Lloyd Austin, has conveyed to Israel the importance of guaranteeing the security of UNIFIL in a call he held the day before when there were still only two ‘blue helmets’ injured.

Israel has assured that this Friday’s incident in which two members of the UN mission were injured has been “involuntary” and, although it has promised to investigate the facts “thoroughly”, facing criticism by alleging that there is “an open conflict” in which the Hezbollah militia party uses the ‘blue helmets’ as “shields.”
