Years ago it was practically unthinkable to assume the task of designing a quality poster or creating representative images if you did not have a certain level of knowledge in graphic design tools. The advent of more intuitive software along with a huge collection of tutorials available on platforms like YouTube made this mission much easier.
The real change, however, we began to experience in the last year with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Tools like DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, and Adobe Firefly have brought an unprecedented creative world to us. And this seems to be just the beginning, since new alternatives, free or paid, are constantly appearing, which aim to take design to the next level.
Playground, an online publisher that changes the rules of the game
Imagine the possibility of editing real and synthetic images in a simple way and directly from the browser. This is what it offers playgrounda web editor promises to make available to users a series of advanced tools that until now some computer programs have been limited (although companies like Adobe are strongly embracing AI).
Playground’s blank canvas, just like any other app, can be intimidating. Where to start? How to start creating with these tools? The founder of the app created a thread on Twitter with a series of ideas that can be used to put into practice and launch ourselves to explore this world of design. You can start by writing a prompt.
“Chocolate cake with fruit”, you type in the Generation frame box of the web application. The system will take care of bringing this image to life with AI. In the event that some element of the composition is not to your liking, you can simply resort to the Erase tool (delete) to remove it without breaking the image and even use the magic brush tool to replace targets (a spoon for a fork).
Another of Playground’s interesting features is its system for superimposing multiple editions, as well as combining various elements to create a new composition. As we see in the video, it is possible to cut out the silhouette of a person, change the background image, replace objects and even completely redesign the appearance of certain elements of the person, such as clothing, using prompts.
Playground is such an example of how generative tools are drastically changing the world of design. And, as we say, there are many other applications that also seek to take advantage of the power of AI to win over users. Certainly not all of them are free. In the case of Playground, we can use it for free, but with some limitations. Let’s see.
If we choose not to pay, at least until the time of publishing this article, the tool promises to give us the ability to create 1,000 images a day and use them for commercial purposes. We will not be able, of course, to change the dimensions of the images and we will not be able to generate more than one image at a time. The quality and detail will also be reduced after generating 50 images.
playground offers two payment alternatives independent. On the one hand, for $10 per month, it enables the possibility of using DALL·E 2 to generate up to 8,000 images per month. And by $15 a monthpresent a plan for the creation of 2,000 images per month with Stable Diffusion and eliminate the limits of dimensions, quality and allows the simultaneous generation of images among other improvements.
