Belgorod governor confirms that residents will move to eight other Russian regions due to possible new attacks

May 31. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, Viacheslav Gladkov, has confirmed that eight other regions of the country have shown themselves willing to receive citizens of Belgorod, displaced due to fear of new attacks, perpetrated by Ukraine, according to Russia.

“I addressed the governors of the Voronezh, Tomsk, Penza, Kaluga, Yaroslavl, Stavropol, Crimea and North Ossetia regions. They all responded to the request with great joy,” Gladkov said, according to information from the Interfax agency.

According to Gladkov, this Tuesday some 300 children from the city of Shebekino have moved to Voronezh. Another 200 women are expected to do the same on Thursday, heading to Penza, while over the weekend it will be the turn of another 400 civilians who will travel to Yaroslavl and Kaluga.

The Belgorod region, located in the extreme south-west of Russia, has been the scene of recent air and drone attacks allegedly carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the framework of a war started by Russia more than fifteen months ago.
