14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Belarusian authorities have reported this Friday that they are studying the possibility of deploying “strategic nuclear weapons” if the international community “continues with its threats” following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Belarusian Foreign Minister, Viktor Jrenin, has thus indicated that if “the hostile rhetoric continues, this will be the next step to take.” “We will respond with force only with force. The West does not understand anything else,” he said, according to a ministry statement.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin has qualified that Belarusian forces plan to deploy “nuclear weapons” as the United States “has been doing the same in allied territory.” In this sense, he has stressed that it is not a “transfer of weapons”.
In this sense, it has confirmed that the construction of an arsenal for this type of weapon on Belarusian soil will end on July 1, according to information from the TASS news agency.
On April 5, Putin and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, held talks in Moscow in which they addressed, among other issues, the possibility of offering security guarantees to Belarus.
