Minsk asserts that “it is not going to attack anyone”, as it is focused on having “good neighborly relations”
12 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Foreign Minister of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, has once again insisted on the need for Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement to “stop the death of people” and “declare a truce” in the conflict, initiated by order of the president. Russian, Vladimir Putin, at the end of February 2022.
This was expressed by Aleinik this Wednesday from Hungary, where he has held meetings with authorities from the Central European country. The Belarusian Foreign Minister has stated that both Minsk and Budapest advocate dialogue as a peace solution in the war in Ukraine.
“We could not ignore the issue of Ukraine, a neighbor for our two countries,” said Aleinik, who stressed that Russia and Ukraine must cease hostilities and agree to a truce that facilitates the start of a negotiating table “as long as before”, according to the BelTA agency.
In this sense, the person in charge of Belarusian diplomacy has stressed that Minsk will carry out all the efforts in its power to reduce the tensions of the conflict. Belarus has already hosted several meetings between Russian and Ukrainian authorities during the first months of the war.
“We consider the causes of the conflicts to be complex. We are convinced that the situation is caused and inflated by the efforts of the United States and its satellites. They get profits, dividends and benefits from this, and everyone else bears the costs,” has riveted Aleinik.
On the other hand, Aleinik has recognized that Belarus is going through one of the most “alarming” moments in terms of national security, at the same time that he has defended that Minsk “has never created problems for its neighbors and strives to have relations good-neighborly”. “We are not going to attack anyone”, he has settled.
