The State Border Committee of Belarus has reported the presence of a force of some 17,000 Ukrainian soldiers who would be near the border between the two countries.

“According to our State Border Committee, Ukraine has concentrated 17,000 soldiers in the Belarusian border area,” Belarusian public television STV reported.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian forces “continue to reinforce the border and build new defenses, engineering structures and a second line of anti-tank trenches and place anti-tank concrete tetrahedrons,” according to this source.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian Interior Minister, Ivan Kubrakov, has denounced the presence of sabotage and reconnaissance groups “Lince” actively working throughout Belarus. “They are troops with specific training, they are career soldiers who are ready to work in any territory of our country,” he explained to ONT Belarusian television.

Belarus has placed mines and other defensive systems on the border with Ukraine amid fears raised by the authorities of a Ukrainian attack. However, it was Belarus that allowed Russian forces to use its territory to attack Ukraine at the start of the invasion that began on February 24, 2022.
