June 28 () –
The Belarusian Armed Forces have moved additional military units to its border with Ukraine, citing alleged threats from the neighboring country and the need to avoid “provocations.”
As part of this reinforcement, the Ministry of Defense has confirmed the deployment of a Polonez missile system, with a range of more than 200 kilometers, according to official sources cited by the BelTA news agency, linked to the Alexander Lukashenko regime.
In recent hours, Belarusian authorities have reported the discovery of a cache of explosives and the downing of an aerial surveillance vehicle on the common border. They have also reported an increase in the presence of troops and military equipment on the Ukrainian side, according to Minsk’s version.
Belarus has been a key partner of Russia since the start of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, both politically and militarily. Although Belarusian troops have not been directly involved in the conflict, Lukashenko has authorized the use of the territory as a base for attacks against Ukraine.
