Begoña Gómez asks the Madrid Court to prevent the judge from carrying out a "universal investigation" against her

Begoña Gomezwife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, asks the Madrid Court to prevent the judge Juan Carlos Peinado do a “universal investigation” against him and demands that the case be filed, considering that there are no indications that link him to either the contracts under investigation or the “Air Europa’s economic vicissitudes”.

In the document, to which Europa Press has had access, requests that the resolution be annulled in which the head of the Court of Instruction Number 41 of Madrid said that was investigating “all acts, conducts and behaviorswhich have been carried out by the person under investigation, since her husband is the president of the Government of Spain that are contained in the initial complaint” of Manos Limpias except for the contracts that the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The defendingled by former minister Antonio Camacho, insists that The judge still has not clarified what facts are being investigated in the procedure that he is leading in the Court of Instruction Number 41 of Madrid. And he assures that the proceedings agreed upon so far “show that the instructor intends to extend the investigation beyond what the court ruled Provincial Court in his ruling issued just over a month ago.”

‘Begoña Gomez case’

On this point, Gómez’s lawyer emphasizes that “facts are being investigated regarding which there has already been The Provincial Court held that there was insufficient evidence and thatwithout any elements other than those contained in the initial complaint having been provided.”

Begoña Gómez’s defense believes that “the Court is going beyond the limits of the investigation as it was set out in the Provincial Court’s ruling”

For Camacho, the only “different” elements that have been recently contributed to the case are “the dozens of documents submitted by the five private prosecutions”, mostly relating to “procedural issues arising from his appearance” or allegations that include “more press reports and documentation that provide no evidence whatsoever regarding the conduct” of the president’s wife.

Denounces a “prospective investigation”

Gómez’s defense insists that if what is being investigated is “all the acts, conduct and behavior that have been carried out by the person under investigation since her husband became President of the Government of Spain,” what Judge Peinado is doing is “a practical example of what doctrine has come to call prospective research.”

Camacho believes that “The Court is going beyond the limits of the investigation as it was configured in the order of the Provincial Court (…) without any evidence having been provided that could serve to initiate the investigation in the areas being investigated at this time.”

So things being as they are,The lawyer argues that “if there is not the slightest circumstantial evidence” that relates Begoña Gómez “nor with the contracts that are being investigated, any of them tendered by the Madrid City Council (…) Not even with the economic vicissitudes of Air Europa“The wife of the President of the Government “must cease to be involved in this procedure as a subject of investigation.”
