BBVA mobilized $3.3 trillion to sustainable projects in 2022

BBVA in Colombia said that financed more than 3,000 clients in sustainable projects during 2022In this way, the entity mobilized resources for $3.3 trillion, in credits aimed at mitigating the impact of climate change and financing social projects, which represented a growth of 150% in the last year.

The resources were used to support productive transformation processes in SMEs and large companies, in addition to the purchase by natural persons of sustainable housing and hybrid and electric vehicles.

Mario Pardo Bayona, executive president of BBVA in Colombia said that “BBVA complied with Colombians by supporting the sustainable transformation of their businesses. It is very gratifying for us to know that thousands of companies, SMEs, families, young people and women have benefited from our financing lines that support projects related to caring for the environment, social development and the reduction of inequalities. Last year we disbursed $3.3 trillion for these initiatives and by 2023, we expect to increase these resources by more than 40%”.

According to figures from the entity, the sustainable portfolio was divided into $2.2 trillion in resources for programs with an environmental impact and $1.1 trillion in financing for social projects that include the construction and adaptation of infrastructures such as aqueducts, schools, hospitals and living place.

In this last item, BBVA’s social contribution stands out with the financing of $71.7 billion for the purchase of their first home, loans that were obtained by more than 1,100 people last year. Besides, More than $232,000 million were approved for the builders of VIS projects that mean more than 2,200 homes in nine cities in the country.

Regarding the small business sector, a special line was designed for SMEs led by women, through which they received resources of more than $13.8 billion. Also, through financing through leasing, the entity supported the development of projects for the education sector with more than $110,000 million and for medical equipment it mobilized $51,000 million.

“For us at BBVA, it is a priority to contribute to the social development of the country, which is why we focus on supporting people, companies and institutions that carry out projects with a social impact. In the case of SMEs, we have promoted energy efficiency and sustainable mobility initiatives, with which this portfolio grew 93%, going from $61,856 to $119,108 million,” said Pardo.

Finally, in sustainable financing for people that includes housing and credit for hybrid or electric vehicles, the portfolio reached $244,000 million, which meant a growth of 230% last year compared to 2021.

Advances in digitization

On the other hand, the entity reported that it closed the year with 1.6 million digital customers, who used the mobile application frequently in the last three months and at the end of 2022, digital sales represented 54% of total sales. Of the entity.

Among the products that reached record numbers are the CDT with a 58% increase in balances totaling $28.5 trillion. While the opening of digital accounts grew by 30%.

Regarding digital transactions, during 2022, more than 127,000 million operations were registered through digital channels such as the mobile banking app and web pages for individuals and companies, which meant an increase of 20% in the number of transactions, reaching an amount of $651,000 million throughout 2022.

In financial terms, the entity registered a positive balance in 2022, registering a growth of the total portfolio of 20.2% per year up to $69.3 trillion, where the support to companies stood out with a 33% growth in financing to that segment. On the other hand, the individual portfolio also reported positive dynamics, growing by 12.5%.

In total, 630,000 people received loans or credit cards from BBVA in 2022, which meant 42% more than in 2021. Regarding companies, the figure was 6,000 companies, which represented a 42% increase compared to 2021.

So things, BBVA in Colombia closed 2022 with profits of $933,514 millionwhich represent 4.3% more than in 2021. Customer revenues in 2022 totaled $8.14 trillion (+50%) and payments to depositors and customers were $3.74 trillion (+143%).
