The deputy governor of Banxico said that the entity will assess the magnitude of the adjustment to its reference rate in the future according to the circumstances that prevail at that time, which reinforces the commitment of the Governing Board with its constitutional mandate.
“Part of our reflection has consisted in adequately calibrating in each decision, and taking into account all the information available, the level of the monetary stance that will allow price stability to be preserved in the economy,” he commented.
Regarding Banxico’s position towards the US Federal Reserve, Borja said that it is one of the relevant elements for the conduct of monetary policy in Mexico, since domestic variables may be affected by the decisions made by the Fed.
“The synchronization of the monetary cycles of Mexico and the US is conditional on the type of shock we are facing, it is not mechanical, nor is it an objective in itself, so attention must be paid to the cyclical conditions of each economy,” he said.
