The governor of Banxico explained that since June 2021, the central bank has raised the rate by 725 points and that the possibility of lowering the rate is not on the table.
“We need to consolidate the reduction in inflation and we will be evaluating the inflationary outlook in each of the next decisions to continue with the commitment that Banco de México has,” he added.
Rodríguez said that the inflation peak occurred last August and September and that it has begun a downward path. In the first half of April, general inflation was 6.24%.
However, core inflation -which is a better parameter to measure prices because it eliminates volatility- continues at high levels above 7%.
