Banco de Bogotá reinforces innovation with cards made with recyclable plastic

Banco de Bogotá continues to consolidate its leadership in the sustainable transformation of the financial sector with its credit and debit cards, made with 100% recyclable plastic and certified by Hogier.

This achievement represents a key advance in its environmental commitment, surpassing the previous use of 76% recycled plastic in its cards.

In addition to the cards, the bank has reinforced its commitment to sustainability through the welcome kit that accompanies them. The kit materials are made from recycled paper, with an approximate decomposition time of one year. This approach has allowed a 10% reduction in water consumption and a 50% reduction in energy use during production. Thanks to these processes, the bank has achieved significant savings in chemicals, water, energy, and has considerably reduced the waste generated.

“At Banco de Bogotá, we are committed to transforming the financial system towards a more sustainable and accessible future. The implementation of our cards made from 100% recyclable plastic, along with advances in security and accessibility, are a reflection of our dedication to innovating responsibly. Our objective is that each action contributes to the construction of a more inclusive world that respects the planet,” said Alejandro Esguerra, director of Product and Digital Strategy at Banco de Bogotá.

Banco de Bogotá continues to prioritize the security of its clients, which is why all its cards now have personal data printed on the back. This improvement responds to the growing demand for greater security and privacy, reducing the exposure of sensitive information and offering a more secure experience for users. Likewise, the entity has designed its cards with special die-cutting for people with visual disabilities, allowing easier identification and promoting accessibility for all customers.

In line with its objective of making the lives of its clients easier, Banco de Bogotá debit cards are compatible with the country’s main public transportation systems, such as Transmilenio, MIO and Megabús. Additionally, users have the option to finance up to two tickets, providing greater flexibility and convenience for those who need it.
