Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan conduct joint exercises without the presence of China and Russia

9 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Security forces from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have launched a series of joint military exercises that will be hosted by the Kazakh government without the presence of China and Russia.

All participants have now arrived in Kazakhstan, where land, sea and air exercises are scheduled to take place until 17 July, Kazakh authorities confirmed after the arrival of Azerbaijani soldiers, who have also joined the exercises, according to several local media.

The exercises are part of the so-called ‘Birlestik-2024’, which means ‘alliance’ in Kazakh, and will take place mainly in the Caspian Sea and will involve some 4,000 troops, warships, aircraft, artillery and tanks.

In total, the countries of Central Asia will take part in these exercises, with the exception of Turkmenistan, although the government of Azerbaijan – despite being in the Caucasus – has given its approval for the participation of its troops.
