Avowed offers a look at its gameplay and confirms a third-person mode

During the Xbox Games Showcase Avowed, Obsidian’s fantasy action RPG, was seen with a trailer focused on the story. This may not have been enough for those who want to know more, so for them we have an in-depth look that includes an interview with the game’s director Carrie Patel. During the presentation, new details are revealed and the option to play with a third-person view is confirmed (although not shown).

The scene where the gameplay is Emerald Stair, a region that will be reached fairly early in the story. Like the rest of the areas, the day and night cycle significantly changes the atmosphere of each of the game’s biomes. One of the points of interest in Emerald Stair is the city Fior, home of the Animancer, who among other things study Dreamscourge, a mysterious plague that is wreaking havoc on the Living Lands. This continent is on Eora, a world that also shares Pillars of Eternity.

During the mission the protagonist meets Yatzli, a future companion whose interaction shows us the dialogue system with options. There are attributes or previous decisions that will unlock new alternatives, allowing you to give the character personality and change the outcome of conversations. These traveling companions get to know each other better with the Party Camp feature. In this camp the companions talk about adventures, their lives and even conflicts may arise. It is also the place where equipment is improved.

Another Avowed mechanic on display is the skills and abilities system. As you level up both things can be improved, and at certain points you can also improve attributes and gain new skills. Obsidian ensures that players will have more than one option when it comes to overcoming any challenge. It is not only about offering alternatives in combat, but there are also weapons and skills (your own or those of your companions) that will help when exploring. If you want to change your skills to try another style of play, you can do so without any problem. There is also complete freedom to specialize in a skill tree or mix and match.

Party Camp.

Avowed doesn’t have a release date yet, but we know it will be available this fall for Xbox Series, Game Pass, and PC. Obsidian Entertainment recently missed the date of November 12 in an entry on its official website, but deleted the information.
