The Australian Government will provide a humanitarian aid initial grant of 10 million dollars to those affected by the devastating earthquakes that have shaken Turkey and Syria.

In Turkey, Australia will provide $7 million in vital aid. Of this amount, $4 million will be provided through Red Cross and Red Crescent partners for food and items such as tents and blankets to help the injured and evacuees. Another $3 million will be allocated as the needs become clearer.

In Syria, Australia will provide $3 million through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), for immediate needs such as shelter, clean water and sanitation, with a focus on women and girls.
