Australia announces 100 million additional financing and supplies for Ukraine

April 27 () –

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles has announced a new aid package worth $100 million (about €93.5 million) to support Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Half of this money will be invested in short-range air defense systems and another 30 million will be for military drones. Up to 15 million will be spent on military equipment such as helmets, inflatable boats, field boots, fireproof executioners or electrical generators, Marles explained during his visit to Ukraine.

Marles has met with senior Ukrainian government officials, including Prime Minister Denis Shmigal and Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havriliuk.

“Ukraine and its people have endured more than two years of large-scale invasion by Russia, but their morale remains high,” Marles said, according to Australian public broadcaster ABC.

Marles has highlighted that with this aid Australia has already contributed 880 million dollars to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022. The Australian Armed Forces have also participated in the training of Ukrainian soldiers in the United Kingdom within the framework of Operation Kudu .
