Attacked with an explosive device the headquarters of a television station in Lebanon

The headquarters of the Lebanese television channel LBCI was attacked on Sunday night by unidentified people who threw an explosive device at the building during the nightly news, an event that resulted in material damage, according to what the media itself has indicated.

The chain has indicated that the attack was perpetrated by unidentified people who were on board a motorcycle and who fled after throwing the device in the building’s parking lot. At the moment the causes of the attack are unknown.

The event took place after two comedians from the chain received threats for comments considered offensive to Shiite Muslims and also occurs about a month after a similar attack against a building belonging to the Lebanese chain Al Jadid in the capital, Beirut. .

For his part, the acting prime minister, Nayib Mikati, has spoken with the president of LBCI, Pierre el Dahel, to stress that “investigations will be intensified until the circumstances of the incident are clarified”, as reported by the news portal Naharnet. “The freedom of the responsible press will be safeguarded and will not be intimidated by any attack,” he concluded.
