At least two German tourists have died crushed by a snow avalanche registered this Wednesday near the French Mont Blanc, the highest peak of the Alps.
According to the Police Prefecture responsible for the area, large blocks of ice have broken off the glacier near the peak, which is over 4,800 meters above sea level.
A total of seven people have been surprised by the avalanche, two of whom have died, while another has been slightly injured, and the remaining four have escaped unharmed.
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that its consulate is now in contact with the local authorities and has conveyed its willingness to help the families of the victims.
