MADRID 17 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least two people have died and thirteen more have been injured this Sunday in an Israeli bombardment on the Mar Elias neighborhood of Beirut, according to the provisional balance published by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The attack would be directed against the leader of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah Mahmud Madi, according to the Lebanese news portal Nidaa el Watan. At the moment the group has not given any information in this regard.
Nor has it confirmed the death of its main spokesperson, Mohamed Afif, who reportedly died in an Israeli bombing of the headquarters of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in the Ras el Nabé neighborhood, also in the Lebanese capital.
The Lebanese health authorities reported this Sunday that the death toll from the Israeli Army’s attacks against the country now stands at 3,481 dead, while the number of injured is around 14,786.
The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombings and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.
The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where more than 43,700 people have already died.
