Madrid 13 (Europa Press) –
At least two girls have died and another eight have been seriously injured in an attack by the Rapid Support forces (RSF) in the capital of the Sudanese state of Kordofán Norte (center), the OBEID, within the framework of the war unleashed against the Sudan Army in April 2023.
The Network of Doctors of Sudan has denounced through its profile on the social network Facebook that the “deliberate” attacks have taken place on Wednesday night in the neighborhoods of Taiba and Karima, after the ‘Ifar’, the night food with which the daily fast is broken during the Sacred Month of Ramadan. As indicated, some of the victims have suffered “the amputation of legs and hands.”
“We strongly condemn this deliberate attack, the seventh consecutive day of missile attacks against densely populated neighborhoods in the obeid. These attacks are clear about sowing terror, displacing the civilian population and causing the maximum number of victims, acts that constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits attacking the civilian population,” says a statement.
The Network has warned about the “continuous aggression of the RSF and its exploitation of the inaction of the international community to repeated violations against unarmed civilians in all states,” therefore, it has urged the international community to “assume their responsibilities by imposing new restrictions on the RSF and those who support them to put an end to the sword of blood of innocent civilians.”
The war between the army and the RSF broke out in April 2023 because of the strong discrepancies around the process of integration of the paramilitary group-now declared as a terrorist-within the Armed Forces, a situation that caused the derailment of the open transition after the overthrow in 2019 of the Omar Hasan Al Bashir regime.
