Baloch separatist armed group BLA claims responsibility for suicide attack

At least two people have been killed and ten injured in an attack carried out by members of a separatist group against a Chinese convoy near Jiná International Airport, located in Karachi, Pakistan’s most populous city.
Sources consulted by the Pakistani television network GEO TV have indicated that one of the injured people is in critical condition and that among the victims are police officers, rangers and women, because the explosion has affected other vehicles that were in the area. area.
The Minister of the Interior of the state of Sindh, Zia Linjar, has indicated that the explosion was due to the placement of an improvised explosive device and that an investigation has been launched. In the vehicle, he added, foreign citizens were traveling.
Responsibility has been claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has indicated that it attacked a convoy with high-level Chinese engineers and investors with an improvised explosive device as it left the airport.
According to a statement published by the group, the explosion has caused several victims among the Chinese personnel and the security forces guarding it. BLA spokesperson Yiyand Baloch has indicated that he will provide more information “soon.”
Pakistan has seen an uptick in attacks in recent months, mainly by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) – known as the Pakistani Taliban – and Baloch separatist groups such as the BLA. Insecurity has been centered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
