MADRID Dec. 23 () –
At least two people have died and four have been injured this Monday due to an explosion in an industrial warehouse in the Russian city of Abakan, in southern Siberia.
Sources close to the matter have indicated in statements to Russian media that the main cause is a “violation of safety regulations” at the plant. The injured have been taken to a hospital in the area in serious condition.
The governor of the Republic of Khakassia, Valentin Konovalov, has indicated on his Telegram account that the incident took place in a former factory producing tractors, forklifts and other types of agricultural machinery.
The explosion would have occurred during hydraulic tests and was the result of the explosion of a “container”, as he explained. “An investigation has already been opened in this regard and an attempt is being made to find the owner of the ship,” he clarified, although he confirmed that the situation is under control.
