( Spanish) — A landslide registered this Wednesday in the department of Antioquia, Colombia, left at least two people dead, reported the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero.
According to the official, in the district of San Antonio de Prado, in Medellín, a 30-year-old woman and a minor under 2 years of age lost their lives.
The landslide also affected a part of the Itagüí municipality, according to Quintero.
Earlier, the mayor’s office had made a call to “urgently” evacuate the landslide area.
Members of the Police and the Army are present in the sector supporting the respective tasks and accompanying the community, according to the mayor’s office.
“Drones do aerial monitoring of the place of the mass movement and its surroundings, paying special attention to the behavior of the Doña María creek and the search for survivors,” the mayor wrote on Twitter.
