At least twelve people have died and 33 have been injured when a university bus overturned on a road that connects the capital of Egypt, Cairo, with the Red Sea, near the town of Ain Sojna, in the northeast of the country.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health has indicated that the accident took place this Monday night and that the injured have been transferred to the Suez Hospital, affiliated with the Suez Governorate Health Care Authority, according to a statement published on its website. The head of the portfolio, Khaled Abdel Ghafar, has expressed “his deepest condolences” to the families of the students of Galala University (located in the province of Suez) who have died “after the painful accident” and has wished a “prompt recovery” to the injured.
Ghafar has highlighted the “full” coordination with the Minister of Education, Ayman Ashur, and the rector of the University, Mohamed al Shenawy, for the procedure for the transfer of the deceased and the provision of medical care to the injured.
