The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority reported this Tuesday that three Palestinians have been shot dead by the Israeli Army during an Israeli military operation in the village of Kafr Dan, northwest of Jenin, in the West Bank.
The director of the Jenin Government Hospital, Wisam Bakr, has identified two of the dead as Muhamad Haza Mari and Ahmed Muhamad Samudi. The third would be Ayman abu Fadala, according to the WAFA news agency.
The attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel on October 7 and the subsequent military offensive on the Gaza Strip – which has already claimed the lives of more than 37,160 people – have also raised tensions in the West Bank, where more than 500 people victims of violent incidents in the last eight months.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, denounced last week an “unprecedented bloodshed” in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. “It is inconceivable that so many lives have been lost in such a gratuitous way,” he said, in a statement in which he demanded that responsibilities be determined.
