March 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least six suspected members of the Afghan branch of the Islamic State have been killed in a security operation by Taliban militias in Herat province, according to the Afghan chain Tolo News.

The operation took place in the 14th district of the homonymous capital of the province and among the deceased is a woman. Another of the deceased was a foreign national, as reported by the Taliban security command in the province.

In the operation, the Taliban forces have also seized several weapons belonging to the so-called Islamic State – Khorasan Province.

This is the third operation in six months that the Taliban has carried out against the jihadists in the city.

Islamic State, it should be remembered, is the biggest internal threat facing the Taliban since its return to power in August 2021.

The organization has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks that have left dozens dead in the capital, Kabul, and other parts of the country.
