DACA, Aug. 15 (DPA/EP) –
At least six people have died from a fire unleashed in a building in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, which houses a plastics factory and a restaurant, according to a provisional balance of victims provided by the Fire Department.
The flames would have started on the ground floor of this three-story building, located in the Kamalbagh area, in the old town of the Bangladeshi capital. The fire then spread to other areas and firefighters took two hours to extinguish it.
“We have found six bodies in the rubble,” said a spokesman for the Fire Department, Anwarul Islam, who has also confirmed that two restaurant workers are missing.
Tragedies in industrial activities are relatively frequent in Bangladesh. In June, at least 49 people perished in another massive fire at a fuel depot in the Chattogram district in the east of the country.
