June 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least one person has died and dozens more have been injured in a bombing carried out by the Israeli Army against a building in southern Lebanon, in the midst of an upsurge in tensions between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah after more than eight months of fighting in the framework of the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Palestinian group Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) against Israeli territory.
The attack, which took place just two days after Israel killed four Hezbollah members, including a commander, took place in the Lebanese town of Yanata, in the Tire district, according to the Lebanese television network Al Manar, linked to the group.
Shortly before, the Lebanese Civil Defense reported that after midnight its teams transported six injured people to hospitals, while they extinguished a fire inside a sawmill and trees in a rural area.
The Israeli Army and Hezbollah – backed by Iran and which has significant political weight in Lebanon – have been engaged in a series of clashes since October 8, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned last week that the Israeli Army “is prepared for a very powerful action” on the border with Lebanon.
