18 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
At least one person has died and another dozen have been injured after a new Russian offensive on a market in the center of the city of Kherson, whose homonymous region has been the target of more than fifty attacks in the last day.
The Kherson region is one of the hardest hit, as kyiv tries to recover the territories conquered by Moscow almost practically since the start of the invasion. In addition to the air attacks, many of the victims originate from the presence of antipersonnel mines in the cultivated fields.
Due to this issue of the mines, Kiev has warned that the number of victims will increase in the near future as spring progresses and with it the start of agricultural work.
Following the invasion on February 24, 2022, much of the Kherson region came under the control of Moscow and its allied forces. Already in November, kyiv managed to recapture the capital, pushing Russian troops to the left bank of the Dnieper River, from where they have been dropping constant bombers on the city.
Throughout these days, Russia has been directing new attacks along the border regions of Sumy and Chernigov, while in Mariupol –in Donetsk–, one of the main scenarios at the beginning of the war, new Russian troops have been deployed to reinforce control of the region.
