MADRID 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Directorate of Civil Defense of Lebanon reported this Wednesday that five of its workers have died as a result of an attack carried out by the Israeli Army against an emergency center in the south of the country.
The Civil Defense has indicated that the rescuers were present in the center of Derdghaiya, a town located in the Southern governorate, “to receive calls in case of emergency,” according to the Lebanese news agency NNA.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health has called on the international community to adopt a “firm stance” regarding these attacks – which have not yet been claimed by Israel – as they “multiply the scourge of war.”
The Israeli Army intensified its offensive against the Lebanese party-militia Hezbollah in mid-September, when it began a series of “selective bombings” in areas of southern Lebanon and even in southern Beirut against targets of the Shiite group, even reaching eliminate its own leader, Hasan Nasrallah.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah intensified on October 8, a day after the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which triggered the current war in the region. Lebanese militia launched missiles into northern Israel, killing several people and causing the evacuation of thousands more.
