At least five dead, including three minors, in a new Israeli attack on eastern Lebanon

MADRID 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Lebanese authorities reported this Tuesday that at least five people have died, of which three are minors, in a new attack perpetrated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against the east of the country, as part of their offensive. against the Shiite militia party Hezbollah.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has detailed that the attack occurred in the town of Rayak, located in the Bekah governorate. Likewise, the Lebanese authorities have indicated on their social networks that 16 other people must be added to the five dead who have been injured.

Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah broke out just over a year ago when the militia launched projectiles against Israeli territory in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and after Hamas had attacked Israel, leaving almost 1,200 dead and 240 hostages, which motivated the bloody Israeli response, which totals more than 42,300 deaths in the Gaza Strip and nearly 750 in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after nearly a year of clashes on the border, which it describes as a “selective and limited” operation against Hezbollah’s “terrorist targets and infrastructure.” The offensive was launched after nearly two weeks of intensified attacks and has been paralleled by an intensification of bombings against the capital, Beirut, and other areas of the country.
