At least five people have died and another 22 have been injured when a bus overturned this morning in the Turkish province of Diyarbakir, in the southeast of the country, as reported by the emergency services to the TV100 channel.
The accident occurred at around 0300 local time near Bagdere, Silvan district when the bus, which was headed for Igdir, spun out of control on a rain-slick stretch and flipped on its side.
Five passengers, including a baby, lost their lives, and 22 more, with injuries of varying degrees, were taken to various hospitals in the area after receiving first aid at the scene. The bus was lifted with a crane seven hours later.
Two injured people are in serious condition, the Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, later announced on his Twitter account.
