At least fifty dead due to floods in Nepal

September 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 50 people have died and 40 more are missing in floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in Nepal. Hundreds of people have been rescued.

Among the deceased there are 11 confirmed in Kathmandu district, another 16 in Lalitpur district, 5 in Bhaktapur, 6 in Kavre, 2 in Sindhupalchok, 5 in Panchthar, 2 in Dhankuta and one each in Sindhuli, Jhapa, and Dhading.

There are also dozens of injured, according to the latest report published by Police Superintendent Bishwo Adhikari, cited by the newspaper ‘The Kathmandu Post’. Those rescued are 1,053, according to the official count in the districts of the Kathmandu Valley alone.

At least four concrete houses have been destroyed and 1,244 more have been submerged under water, according to Adhikari. In total there are 44 districts affected by floods and roads have been blocked in 39 districts.
