MADRID Dec. 8 () –

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed this Sunday that at least 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 370,000 have been injured since the beginning of the Russian invasion of the country in February 2022.

Zelensky has declared these estimates in a message published on his social network account since the invasion.

The Ukrainian president emphasizes that “approximately half” of the wounded soldiers have subsequently returned to the ranks.

In addition, Zelensky has confirmed that Russia has released 3,935 Ukrainian citizens that it had captured since the beginning of the invasion: 3,767 military personnel and 168 civilians.

The last time so far that the Ukrainian president declared an update on casualty figures in the Ukrainian Army was in February of this year, when he estimated Ukrainian combat deaths at around 31,000.
