Hamas denounces that Israel has bombed at least ten displaced persons centers in 24 hours
May 26. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 30 people have died in an Israeli bombardment on the Barakasat displaced persons center, in the Gazan region of Rafah, as reported this Sunday by the Gazan Government, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which denounces attacks on ten displaced persons centers in the last 24 hours.
“In the last 24 hours, the Israeli occupation army has bombed and attacked more than ten centers for displaced people in Jabalia, Nuseirat, Gaza and Rafá (…). The last of these attacks has been a terrible massacre that was perpetrated in the Barakasat displaced persons center,” the Gazan government said in a statement.
The text recalls that the Israeli authorities “had designated these areas as safe zones and had asked citizens and displaced people to go to those areas.”
Specifically, seven projectiles and large bombs containing more than 900 kilos of explosive each fell in Barakasat, according to the Gazan Government.
“These ongoing massacres against civilians and displaced persons confirm without a doubt that we are facing the crime of genocide with premeditation and that the occupation army deliberately inflicts the greatest possible number of deaths among civilians and displaced persons who fled the fires of war.” , the Gazan authorities have denounced.
Shortly after the publication of this information by the press office of the Gazan Government, the Israeli Armed Forces have published a statement in which they report that they have opened an investigation after an attack in which they acknowledge that ” several people unrelated to the target were injured.
“Planes have attacked a compound of the Hamas terrorist organization in Rafah where high-ranking terrorists of the organization were staying,” Israel explained. “The attack was carried out against terrorists who are targeted in accordance with international law, using precision weaponry and based on preliminary intelligence indicating the presence of Hamas terrorists in the area,” he added.
The Israeli Armed Forces have reported that “as a result of the attack and a fire that broke out in the area, several people other than those involved have been injured. The event is under review.”
