MADRID Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 26 people have died and 28 have been injured in an accident between two minibuses in central-western Ivory Coast, after both vehicles burned after colliding, local authorities have reported.
The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. local time this Friday on the route that separates the cities of Daloa and Issia, as noted by the Ivorian news portal Abidjan, citing a statement from local officials.
The 28 injured were taken to the Issia General Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.
The Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné, has expressed the Government’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families and has expressed his wish for a speedy recovery for the injured.
Likewise, it has ordered the opening of an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, and has urged the population, in the context of the end-of-year holidays, to respect traffic rules and pay greater vigilance.
