June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 22 civilians have died and 45 have been injured this Friday afternoon in an attack by the Israeli Army near Gaza, where the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been damaged.
“Heavy caliber projectiles fell just meters from the CIRC office and residences on Friday afternoon. The attack damaged the office structure, which is surrounded by hundreds of displaced civilians living in tents, including many of our Palestinian colleagues,” announced the ICRC for Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The bombing has left at least 22 dead and 45 injured, who have been transferred to the Red Cross Field Hospital, as confirmed by the organization in a message published on its X social network account.
Furthermore, the Red Cross has denounced that this is not the first time that “stray bullets have hit ICRC structures,” and has condemned these “serious security incidents” that “endanger the lives of humanitarian workers and civilians.”
Finally, the organization recalled that International Humanitarian Law obliges the parties to the conflict to take “all possible precautions to avoid damage to civilians and civilian objects, including humanitarian facilities.”
