At least 19 dead and five injured after an Israeli attack on a building in southern Lebanon

June 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 19 people have died and another five have been injured this Wednesday night after an attack by the Israeli Army against a building in the city of Nabatiye, located in southern Lebanon, within the framework of clashes between Israeli forces and the Shiite militia party Hezbollah, which threaten an expansion of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

At around 10:00 p.m. (local time), an Israeli airstrike hit a two-story building in the Al Masha neighborhood, leaving it “completely destroyed,” according to the Lebanese state news agency NNA.

Authorities have already moved to the scene to carry out rescue services and treat the injured, of whom at least five have been transferred to nearby hospitals.

The Israeli Army and Hezbollah – backed by Iran and which has significant political weight in Lebanon – have been engaged in a series of clashes since October 8, a day after the attacks carried out by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions, which left nearly 1,200 dead and about 240 kidnapped.

Tensions have been rising in recent weeks, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently warning that the Israeli army is “prepared for a very powerful action” on the border with Lebanon, while the army itself claims to have a plan ready for this. For his part, Hezbollah’s number two, Naim Qassem, said that an expansion of the conflict would lead to “devastation and destruction” in Israel.
