At least 16 dead after a bus crash in northern Uganda

6 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least 16 people have been killed and several more injured after a bus crashed into a parked truck late Thursday in northern Uganda.

As reported by the Ugandan Police, twelve people have died at the scene, while another four have died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Some of the injured are in critical condition at the hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment, North Kyoga Region Police spokesman Patrick Jimmy Okema reported.

The authorities do not know the cause of the accident at the moment, despite the fact that preliminary findings suggest that the driver of the truck would have parked incorrectly without warning signs.

“This is a very unfortunate incident. We appeal to the citizens for calm and send our condolences to the families of the victims,” Okema said.
