At least 13 people have died from a fire in a cafeteria in the Russian city of Kostroma, located in the homonymous region, 340 kilometers northeast of Moscow, according to local authorities.
The General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kostroma region has detailed raising the number of deaths by five after accounting for eight deaths hours before, all after notifying that the roof of the premises completely collapsed, as reported by the Russian agency TASS.
In addition to the deaths, 15 people living in a nearby block of flats have had to be evacuated due to the proximity of the fire, which has already been controlled by the city’s Fire Department.
The Kostroma Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to determine what happened and the origin of the fire.
