The motherboard manufacturer ASUS has announced that a large number of boards with Z690 chipset will be compatible with the new Intel Raptor Lake processors thirteenth generation. The list consists of nothing less than 23 references all with the top-of-the-range chipset of this generation. The models correspond to the series ROG, ROG STRIX, ProArt, PRIME and TUF GAMING.
Support will be available through a BIOS update to version 1601 in most boards, except in 5 models of the PRIME series, which will be 1603. Even some of the models consulted you already have this update. You will only have to download the new BIOS version and install it according to the manufacturer’s instructions using EZ-Flash or BIOS Flashback. So you’ll have compatibility on your current motherboard with the next generation of Intel Raptor Lake processors without having to buy a new 700-series chipset board.
We have already seen this compatibility when installing an engineering sample of an Intel Raptor Lake on a current Z690 chipset board. Even so, Intel will present the new 700 series of chipset compatible with the new Raptor Lake, which will add new functions to this generation. It has also been confirmed through a leak that there will be models with DDR4 and DDR5 memory just like the current generation.
