MYANMAR
at least 157 kids They died in 2022 during the repression of the protests and in the military operations of the coup junta. The report prepared by the activists of the Association for Assistance to Political Prisoners (AAPP) also indicates that the total number of minor victims since the return to power of the generals amounts to 267.
ISRAEL – PALESTINE
Israeli security forces two Palestinians were killed this morning during an operation in the village of Kfar Dan, in Jenin, West Bank. The target of the operation was the home of Palestinians accused of taking part in a deadly attack on an army commander. The victims are Mohammed Samer Hoshieh, 22, and Fouad Mohammed Abed, 25.
JAPAN
After two years of confinement by the Covid-19, the japanese emperor naruhito appeared this morning in public to greet the new year. It’s a time-honoured event that is marked by caution at the moment, as the country – and the royal family – are slowly returning to normalcy. Empress Masako and her daughter Aiko were also present. In the palace there were 1,500 people, chosen by lot.
NORTH KOREA – CHINA
Pyongyang’s department stores are stocking up on luxury goods – some original, but the vast majority forged– imported from China, to be sold at high prices to North Korea’s wealthy elite before the New Year holidays. Freight trains running between Dandong in China and Sinuiju in North Korea run every day except weekends.
PAKISTAN – INDIA
Islamabad and Delhi have interchanged their respective lists of nuclear facilities, part of the pact signed in 1988 that prevents attacks against atomic sites. The two countries have also communicated to the other party the list of prisoners in custody, as stipulated in the 2008 agreement. Pakistan has 705 Indians (51 civilians and 654 fishermen), India 434 Pakistanis (339 civilians and 95 fishermen).

One third of the Arab population of the Asian continent lives on below the poverty line. This is established in a report published a few days ago by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) of the United Nations, according to which the state of indigence affects nearly 130 million people. In 2022 the highest unemployment figure was also registered, with 12%.
UZBEKISTAN – INDIA
Since December 30, the sale of medicines of all kinds produced by the Indian company Marion Biotech and registered in the country has been prohibited in Uzbekistan. That decision was made when they found foreign elements in the “Dok-1 Max”, and this is suspected to be the cause of death of 19 people, almost all of them children, in recent weeks.
