On October 13, six private companies received the award ASEAN Red Ribbon for Outstanding Workplace (ARROW) for its good practices in creating a safe, healthy and non-discriminatory workplace through its HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention programs.
ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi congratulated the awardees for their commitment to promoting non-discriminatory policies and environments for workers with HIV and AIDS. He stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and health of ASEAN workers, especially those with HIV and AIDS, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ARROW Award, first held in 2016, is organized every two years by the ASEAN Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS (ASEAN-BCA), an entity created by the ASEAN Labor Ministers Meeting in 2014.
ASEAN private sector recognized for raising occupational safety and health standards
The Singapore Ministry of Labour, as the coordinator of the ASEAN-BCA in 2020-2022, hosted the fourth online award ceremony. The award was given respectively to Top Summit Garment Inc. of Cambodia; Parkland World Indonesia 2 from Indonesia; Phu Bia Mining Limited from Lao PDR; Sunway Group of Malaysia; AAVC – Animal and Avian Veterinary Clinic of Singapore; and Gamma Industries Co. Ltd. of Thailand.
Indonesia hosted the first ARROW Award in 2016, followed by Malaysia in 2018 and the Philippines in 2020.
