In the first four months of the year, Colombia’s external sales of non-mining goods, that is, products other than oil and coal, increased by 13.9% compared to what was exported in the same period of 2022.
Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala were the destinations where Colombian exports increasedwhose shipments totaled $985.1 million dollars.

For its part, the volume of exports registered an increase of 16% in relation to the same period last year. In total, up to the month of April, 405,475.1 tons of non-mining goods were exported.
According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, among the products that helped drive this positive behavior, are “other vehicles for transporting people, with an increase of 488.6%, as well as cars for transporting of 10 or more people who grew 689.8%.”
Other items that also registered increases were: freeze-dried coffee (126.3%); the other herbicides (86%); palm oils and their fractions (146.1%); chocolates, candies and candies (24%), among other goods.

Regarding the distribution by country, The destination in which exports of non-mining goods grew the most was Mexicowith 18%, followed by Venezuela with 15%, Panama and Costa Rica with 13% each, the Dominican Republic with 8% and Guatemala with 4%.
It should be noted that these countries are part of the 20 main destinations for sales of this type of goods, representing 15.3% of this export basket.

Since the opening of the border between the two countries through Norte de Santander, for the passage of cargo on September 26, 2022, trade between Colombia and Venezuela through this department as of June 15, 2023 has registered $128.7 million dollars and 150,264 tons.
Of that value, $116.2 million dollars correspond to the exports that Colombia has made to that destination across the borderwhile $12.4 million dollars are imported from the neighboring country through the same step.
