US authorities arrested Jack Teixeira, a member of the Air National Guard, on Thursday as the alleged perpetrator of the leak of highly confidential military documents.
“FBI agents took Teixeira into custody this afternoon without major incident,” US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced in a brief speech to the media.
The Department of Justice announced last week the opening of an investigation to identify the author of the action, while the Pentagon continues to assess the damage caused by the leak.
