Army kills two suspected terrorists in an operation in northeastern Algeria

September 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Algerian authorities have announced the death of two suspected terrorists following an operation carried out in the province of Tébessa, located in the north-east of the country, on the border with Tunisia, as part of activities against terrorist and jihadist groups in the African country.

The Algerian Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the deceased were Mesani el Sebti and Yunes Abdelá, without specifying which group they belonged to. The operation also resulted in the seizure of weapons, ammunition and other materials.

“This qualitative operation once again demonstrates the vigilance and determination of the National People’s Army units to pursue these criminals throughout the country until they are completely eradicated,” he said.

The Algerian government said last week that it had arrested four suspected terrorists “operating in the Sahel region” in an operation carried out “through the efficient use of intelligence information” in the province of Tamanrasset (south).
