Armed attack leaves seven dead in a resort in Guanajuato, Mexico

( Spanish) — At least seven people died -among them a minor- and one more was injured this Saturday in an armed attack carried out in the “La Palma” spa, in the municipality of Cortazar, in Guanajuato, in central Mexico, The Municipal Government reported in a statement.

“Elements of the municipal security system arrived at the place where they found shell casings and 3 lifeless women, 3 men and 1 child under 7 years of age,” the statement explained.

One more person – who had serious injuries – was taken to a hospital, the municipality explained.

According to the Municipal Government, a witness said that the subjects arrived armed at the place to carry out the attack and that, before leaving, they damaged the spa store and took the cameras and a security monitor from the establishment.

The statement explained that an operation has been deployed in the area with public security forces and no arrests or a hypothesis behind the event has yet been reported.
