ARM launches scaling technology to improve frame rates in mobile games

12 Jul. (Portaltic/EP) –

The processor designer ARM has introduced a system that improves the graphical experience of mobile games by increasing the frame rate while reducing power consumption, an open source project called Accuracy Super Resolution (ASR).

The company has acknowledged that the ambition of video games for these devices “is infinite” and that modern titles “go further with complex lighting and shaders.” to fulfill the developer’s vision,” which goes hand in hand with the overload of GPUs, which consume greater amounts of energy. To solve this, it has developed its own technology.

ASR is an open source alternative that reduces both the load on this unit and the bandwidth requirements, improvements that translate into energy savings, “which means that users can enjoy longer battery life,” as explained on his blog.

This system is based on the technology of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR2), which employs a combination of temporal super-resolution upscaling, advanced frame generation, and latency reduction to enhance the visual appearance of games. It also increases frame rates in mobile games.
