This same week we were talking about how Qualcomm was pushing hard in its business of ARM processors for laptops, but according to what we read in PC Gamerit seems that this trend may be even stronger than might be expected, since it is expected that by 2026 30 percent of new computers sold have ARM processors inside.
Understanding these figures also depends on our predisposition to put more or less types of computer within the definition of PC, because, for example, it is unlikely that 30 percent of the gaming computers we build on our own will go to ARMbut on the other hand, if we take a look at the laptop market, Apple’s sales alone are already important.
It is also important to understand the enormous leap in performance that we have seen in ARM chips, because although we can now understand as “normal” the performance that we find in processors like the Apple M2, this until recently was practically unthinkableSo while we won’t be seeing ARM Gaming PCs any time soon, the possibility is entirely real.
Either way, ARM is here and it’s probably here to stay, especially thanks to its efficiency.
